Jack Eichel Signs Eight-Year Extension with Vegas Golden Knights

In a significant move to secure their long-term offensive core, the Vegas Golden Knights announced Wednesday that star forward Jack Eichel has signed an eight-year contract extension that will keep him in Las Vegas through the 2033-34 NHL season.

The deal, worth an average annual value of $13.5 million, makes Eichel one of the highest-paid players in the National Hockey League and reaffirms his status as the face of the Golden Knights franchise moving forward.

Eichel’s Legacy in Vegas Continues

Eichel, 28, is entering his fifth season with the Golden Knights and has firmly established himself as the team’s offensive cornerstone since his 2021 arrival. Over that span, he has accumulated 253 points (100 goals, 153 assists) in 241 games — leading the club in both goals and assists.

He also holds franchise records for power-play points (78) and shots (867), and during the 2024-25 campaign, Eichel set a new personal and franchise benchmark with 94 points (28 goals, 66 assists), further solidifying his elite status in the league.

“Jack has been everything we hoped for and more,” said Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon in a press release. “He’s an elite competitor, a leader in the room, and a huge reason for our success over the past few seasons. Securing him long-term is a major win for our organization.”

Playoff Pedigree and Championship Impact

Eichel’s postseason performances have only added to his growing legacy in Las Vegas. During the team’s Stanley Cup-winning run in 2023, he led all playoff skaters with 26 points (6 goals, 20 assists) across 22 games — a remarkable debut in postseason hockey.

In subsequent playoff appearances, he remained a key contributor, tallying 7 points (3 G, 4 A) in 2024 and 10 points (1 G, 9 A) during the 2025 postseason, helping Vegas remain a consistent contender in the West.

“Winning the Cup was a dream come true, but I believe we’re not done yet,” Eichel told reporters following the extension announcement. “This team, this city — it feels like home. I’m excited to keep building something special here.”

International Success and Early Stardom

Beyond his NHL success, Eichel has been a prominent fixture on the international stage. Most recently, he represented the United States at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, notching four assists in four games, helping the team reach the final before falling to Canada in overtime.

His international resume also includes a bronze medal at the 2015 IIHF World Championship and gold at the 2014 U18 World Junior Championship, showcasing his impact at every level of the game.

From College Star to Franchise Leader

Originally drafted second overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2015 NHL Draft, Eichel quickly made waves in the hockey world. After a standout freshman season at Boston University, where he led the nation in scoring and won the prestigious Hobey Baker Award, Eichel became one of the most highly touted American prospects in recent memory.

He spent six seasons in Buffalo, recording 355 points (139 G, 216 A) in 375 games, before being traded to the Golden Knights in a blockbuster move that has since paid massive dividends for Vegas.

Looking Ahead

The extension represents a commitment by both player and franchise to pursue continued success — and potentially more championships — in the coming years. With Eichel now locked in as the centerpiece of the Golden Knights, Vegas fans can look forward to a future built around one of hockey’s elite talents.

As the 2025-26 NHL season begins, expectations are high in the desert, and Eichel’s presence at the heart of the roster ensures that the Golden Knights remain one of the league’s most formidable threats.
