Xiaomi Unveils 1,900-HP Vision GT Electric Hypercar Concept at MWC 2026
Barcelona, Spain — Chinese tech giant Xiaomi today pulled back the curtain on its most ambitious automotive concept yet: the Vision GT, a futuristic electric hypercar concept boasting up to 1,900 horsepower and a suite of radical engineering innovations unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona.

The Vision GT represents Xiaomi’s first venture into ultra-high-performance electric vehicle design, marking a strategic effort to elevate its automotive division’s profile on the global stage. Though the car will not enter production and exists primarily as a virtual concept for the Gran Turismo franchise, the company describes its technical ambitions as a signal of where future hardware could head.
Pushing Virtual Boundaries with Real Engineering
At the core of the Vision GT is a 900-volt silicon carbide platform, a high-efficiency electrical architecture designed to support extreme performance levels. Xiaomi says this enables a balance of top-end power and aerodynamic control, resulting in a reported 1,900 hp output — a figure that would rival or exceed many current hypercars if applied to real-world production vehicles.
Designers took a “less is more” philosophy to the bodywork, shaping every surface to manage airflow without relying on traditional spoilers or add-on aerodynamic parts. The result is a teardrop-like exterior that channels air from front to rear, delivering both low drag and significant downforce.
An especially eye-catching innovation is what Xiaomi calls “Accretion Rims” — magnetic wheel covers that remain perfectly still while the wheels rotate beneath. According to the company, this reduces drag and creates a visual illusion of hovering rims in motion.
A Futuristic “Sofa Racer” Cockpit
Inside, the Vision GT departs from conventional performance car design. Instead of separate bucket seats, the cockpit wraps the driver and passenger in a flowing carbon-fiber shell inspired by the feel of a living-room sofa. Known as the “Sofa Racer” concept, the seating and dashboard form a continuous loop around occupants, using advanced 3D-knitted fabrics for comfort and aesthetics.
Xiaomi also introduced its Xiaomi Pulse intelligent interface, a 360-degree assistant embedded in the dash that adjusts displays and ambience based on driving conditions and modes. Traditional controls are pared down to a steer-by-wire wheel and a throttle styled more like aviation hardware than automotive switches.
From Virtual Concept to Strategic Showcase
While the Vision GT will debut as a playable vehicle in Gran Turismo 7, its broader purpose — according to Xiaomi — is to bolster the brand’s automotive identity as it prepares for deeper expansion into European markets. The move aims to position Xiaomi alongside established automakers that have traditionally dominated motorsport and high-performance engineering dialogues.
Xiaomi’s automotive division has already made headlines with strong deliveries of its SU7 electric sedan, and the Vision GT concept underscores a commitment not just to making electric cars, but to pushing the boundaries of design and technology at the intersection of virtual and real-world driving experiences.
