SF9 TENACITY Celebrates a Decade of K-pop
SF9 TENACITY has arrived as the South Korean boy group’s defining release for its 10th anniversary year. Released on Aug. 26, the second full-length album brings together 10 tracks while reflecting on SF9’s decade-long journey and looking toward a much longer future.
The eight-member group celebrated the release at a media showcase in Seoul, where members performed the lead single “Without Wings” for the first time. Rather than treating the anniversary as an endpoint, SF9 presented it as another starting point.

The group’s ambitions are unusually long-term. Member Inseong said SF9 hopes to continue working together for another 60 years, provided the members remain healthy.
That statement captures the central spirit behind SF9 TENACITY. The album is not simply a collection of anniversary songs. It represents persistence, experience and the determination to continue growing together.
According to The Korea Times, SF9 debuted in October 2016 with the single album Feeling Sensation. The group began its 10th-anniversary activities with the special album About Love in March before completing the celebration with TENACITY.
SF9 TENACITY Turns 10 Years Into a Message of Persistence
The name SF9 TENACITY carries a deliberate double meaning.
“Tenacity” refers to persistence and determination, while “TEN” also points directly to the group’s 10 years since debut. The concept therefore connects SF9’s history with its plans for the future.
That theme is particularly meaningful for a group that has experienced major changes throughout its career.
Over the past decade, SF9 has moved through different musical eras, individual activities, military service periods and changes in its working lineup. Yet the members continue to describe the group itself as something they want to protect and develop.
For the members, the anniversary is therefore less about looking backward than understanding how the group has evolved.
Leader Youngbin explained that the members have become more flexible in working together. In the group’s early years, members often had strong individual ideas about the music they wanted to make. Over time, they learned to put the needs of the team first.
That evolution is one of the clearest themes surrounding SF9 TENACITY.
The album arrives at a point when the members have accumulated significantly more experience than they had when they first debuted. Their goal now is not simply to reproduce the sound or image that made them known in the first place.
Instead, SF9 is presenting a more mature version of itself.
“Without Wings” Leads SF9’s New Chapter
The lead single from SF9 TENACITY is “Without Wings,” a track built around the group’s vocals and Afrobeats-influenced production.
The song takes a comparatively relaxed musical approach while carrying a message of hope and resilience. Member Hwiyoung participated in writing the track and said he drew on his own experiences when developing its lyrics.
That personal connection gives the song an important role within the album.
Rather than presenting success as something effortless, “Without Wings” reflects the idea of continuing forward despite limitations. The concept fits the group’s anniversary story, particularly after 10 years of changes and challenges.
The song also allows SF9 to demonstrate that longevity does not necessarily mean staying musically static.
The group has experimented with different genres throughout its career. SF9 TENACITY continues that approach by presenting 10 tracks that cover a range of musical styles.
For longtime fans, the album can therefore be viewed as both a celebration of the group’s established identity and an introduction to where SF9 wants to go next.
SF9 Members Reflect on Their Decade Together
At the Seoul showcase, the members looked back on some of the moments that defined their careers.
Dawon identified SF9’s first music-show victory with “Good Guy” in 2020 as the achievement that remains particularly memorable.
For artists who spend years training before debuting, winning a music show can be a major milestone. For Dawon, the moment represented the fulfillment of a dream that had shaped much of the group’s early career.
That memory also highlights how different SF9’s current position is from where it started.
The group debuted in 2016 as FNC Entertainment’s dance-oriented boy group and gradually built its identity through albums, performances and individual activities.
Ten years later, the members are able to view those early ambitions from a different perspective.
Youngbin also credited the group’s changing approach to teamwork as one of its most important developments.
Instead of insisting on individual preferences, the members have learned how to compromise and move toward a common goal. That flexibility could prove increasingly important as the members continue balancing group activities with individual careers.
The result is an anniversary album that emphasizes not only musical development but also personal growth.
Military Service Adds Another Layer to the Comeback
The release of SF9 TENACITY also comes during a period in which military service affects the group’s promotional activities.
According to The Korea Times, Yoo Tae-yang and Zuho are sitting out promotions while serving in the military. The members who are currently promoting said they have continued receiving messages from their bandmates.
Their absence means the promotional period does not feature every member together.
Nevertheless, the group has emphasized that the members remain connected. Youngbin said messages from the members serving in the military were meaningful to the rest of the team.
This adds another dimension to the album’s anniversary message.
A 10-year career in K-pop rarely follows a straight path. Members may face military obligations, individual projects, acting opportunities and other professional commitments. Maintaining a group identity through those periods requires planning as well as commitment.
For SF9, SF9 TENACITY arrives as evidence that the group intends to keep that connection alive.
From “Good Guy” to TENACITY
Looking at SF9’s career through the lens of SF9 TENACITY reveals how much the group has changed since its debut.
The members entered the K-pop industry in 2016 with Feeling Sensation. Their career subsequently included numerous releases and different musical concepts, eventually leading to “Good Guy,” which gave the group its first music-show wins in 2020.
That achievement became a turning point.
SF9 later participated in Kingdom: Legendary War, giving the group another opportunity to demonstrate its performance abilities to a broader audience. Over the years, individual members also expanded into areas including acting, songwriting and solo activities.
The group’s history has therefore never been limited to its group discography.
The 10th anniversary provides a chance to bring those experiences together.
SF9 TENACITY is particularly significant because it is only the group’s second full-length Korean studio album. The decision to mark the 10th anniversary with a full album rather than a smaller release underlines the importance of the occasion.
With 10 tracks, the project also mirrors the anniversary itself.
The number becomes part of the album’s identity, reinforcing the connection between the music and the milestone.
SF9 Plans 10th Anniversary Concerts in Seoul
The anniversary celebration will continue beyond the release of SF9 TENACITY.
SF9 is scheduled to hold two 10th-anniversary concerts on Oct. 10 and 11 at KBS Arena in Seoul. The performances are expected to cover the group’s decade-long career while also featuring special stages.
For fans, the concerts could provide an opportunity to experience the group’s history in a single event.
Chani said the members intend to bring 10 years of material to the anniversary performances. Jaeyoon similarly expressed hope that fans would attend and share the memories created throughout the group’s career.
The concerts also give the anniversary a different dimension from the album.
While SF9 TENACITY looks toward the future through new music, the live shows can serve as a retrospective celebration of the group’s most important eras.
That combination gives SF9’s 10th-anniversary campaign a clear structure: a new album to represent the present and future, alongside concerts that celebrate the journey that made the present possible.
What SF9’s 60-Year Promise Really Means
The most striking statement from the SF9 TENACITY showcase may be the group’s promise to continue for another six decades.
Inseong said the members have the will and determination to keep SF9 going for around 60 more years, as long as they remain healthy.
Taken literally, that would place the group’s potential career well beyond the conventional lifespan of a K-pop idol group.
But the statement is perhaps better understood as an expression of commitment.
K-pop groups often operate under intense schedules and changing circumstances. Careers can be shaped by contracts, military service, individual ambitions, health and shifts in the entertainment industry.
Against that backdrop, SF9’s message is straightforward: the members still want to be a team.
That desire is arguably more important than the exact number of years.
Ten years after debut, the group is not presenting SF9 TENACITY as a farewell or final chapter. Instead, the album is being positioned as another milestone in an ongoing story.
SF9 TENACITY Signals a New Beginning
For SF9, reaching 10 years is both a major achievement and a reminder of how quickly the K-pop industry changes.
The group has survived multiple eras while developing individual careers and navigating periods when not every member could participate in promotions.
Now, SF9 TENACITY gives the members an opportunity to define what the next era should look like.
The album’s title captures that ambition. Ten years are represented by “TEN,” while tenacity represents the determination required to continue.
The lead single “Without Wings” reinforces the idea through its hopeful message, while the anniversary concerts will bring the group’s history to the stage.
Together, these projects suggest that SF9 sees its 10th anniversary not as a finish line, but as a launch point.
The next chapter will inevitably look different from the first decade. The members are older, more experienced and increasingly established as individual artists. Yet their message remains remarkably consistent: SF9 still has somewhere to go.
And if the group’s ambitious promise becomes reality, SF9 TENACITY may eventually be remembered not as the album that celebrated the end of a decade, but as the record that marked the beginning of many more.
