Galaxy S26 One UI 9 Update Begins Rolling Out

Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 9 update to the Galaxy S26 series, bringing Android 17 to the company’s latest flagship smartphones. The rollout marks the end of several months of beta testing and begins the next major software upgrade for Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra owners.

The Galaxy S26 One UI 9 update is currently being distributed in South Korea, with availability expected to expand to additional countries and regions. According to current reports, Samsung is initially limiting the stable release to users who previously participated in the One UI 9 beta program.

The release follows an extended testing period that began in May. Samsung subsequently issued multiple beta versions as it worked to stabilize the Android 17-based software before releasing the final build.

PhoneArena reports that Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra devices are receiving the update through an over-the-air download. However, access remains limited during this initial phase.

Galaxy S26 owners who participated in the beta program are currently among the first users able to install the stable software. Other owners are expected to receive the update as Samsung expands distribution.

The initial rollout is not yet a worldwide release. Samsung typically stages major software updates by market, carrier and device variant, meaning the timing can differ significantly between countries.

Android Authority also reports that the stable update is currently rolling out in Korea, with other markets expected to follow.

Android 17 Arrives on Samsung’s Flagship Phones

One UI 9 is Samsung’s latest custom Android interface and is built on Android 17.

Samsung introduced the One UI 9 beta program for the Galaxy S26 series on May 12. The company said the new software would focus on creativity, personalization, accessibility and security improvements.

The stable release represents an important step for Samsung’s 2026 flagship lineup because it moves the Galaxy S26 family from beta software to the final version of the company’s latest operating system.

The Galaxy S26 series includes three models: the standard Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra. All three are included in the current One UI 9 rollout.

One UI 9 Beta Testing Took Several Months

The stable release follows a lengthy beta program.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 One UI 9 beta in May, initially opening the program in selected markets. The testing process continued through multiple releases as Samsung worked on bugs, performance and system stability.

By September, Samsung had released an eighth beta version for the Galaxy S26 series. Android Authority reported that the eighth beta was approximately 513MB and included the August 5, 2026 security patch.

The extended testing period suggests Samsung was making final adjustments before the stable version reached consumers.

Now that the final software is beginning to roll out, beta testers can move to the official release without remaining on the experimental software track.

Galaxy S26 Plus and S26 Ultra Included

The update is not limited to the standard Galaxy S26.

Samsung is also rolling out One UI 9 to the Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra, giving owners across the flagship range access to the Android 17-based interface.

Samsung’s software update records show that the Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra were still receiving Android 16 updates in some markets as recently as September 15. This illustrates how quickly the transition to One UI 9 is now happening.

Because Samsung distributes firmware according to model, market and carrier, users should not assume that every Galaxy S26 device will receive the stable update at exactly the same time.

When Will One UI 9 Reach Other Countries?

Samsung has not released a single worldwide rollout time for every Galaxy S26 device.

The first stable distribution is taking place in South Korea, while additional markets are expected to follow.

Users outside Korea may therefore need to wait until Samsung enables the update for their specific country or carrier.

The rollout can also depend on the exact model number. Carrier versions may receive firmware separately from unlocked or Samsung-branded models.

Galaxy owners can manually check for the update by opening Settings > Software update > Download and install.

If the update is not available yet, that does not necessarily mean the phone is excluded. Samsung’s phased distribution means availability can change as the rollout expands.

One UI 9 Will Expand Beyond Galaxy S26

The stable Galaxy S26 release is only one stage of Samsung’s broader One UI 9 rollout.

Samsung has already brought One UI 9 to its newer foldable devices, while beta testing has expanded to additional Galaxy models. Samsung confirmed that its One UI 9 beta program would expand beyond the Galaxy S26 series to selected Galaxy S25 models and Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 devices in September.

Older supported Galaxy smartphones are expected to receive the software in later phases.
