Bigscreen Beyond 2 Gets Major $60 Price Drop

The Bigscreen Beyond 2 is becoming a more attractive option for PC VR users after Bigscreen permanently reduced the headset’s starting price by $60. The slim and lightweight VR headset now starts at $959, down from its previous $1,019 price. At the same time, Bigscreen has confirmed that production of its long-awaited Halo Mount has resumed, with the majority of remaining units expected to ship in October.

The changes represent an important update for one of the most unusual high-end PC VR headsets on the market. Beyond 2 combines a lightweight 107-gram design with high-resolution micro-OLED displays and SteamVR tracking. However, its premium price and the long wait for the Halo Mount have been two important considerations for potential buyers.

Now, both areas are moving in a more favorable direction.

Bigscreen Beyond 2 Price Drops to $959

The biggest announcement is the permanent price reduction for the Bigscreen Beyond 2.

The standard headset previously started at $1,019. Bigscreen has now lowered that price to $959, giving buyers a $60 reduction. The company has also reduced the price of the eye-tracking Beyond 2e from $1,219 to $1,159.

The reduction is notable because Bigscreen says it is making the change despite inflation and higher component costs. Rather than passing those pressures on to customers, the company is positioning the new pricing as a more accessible entry point for its lightweight PC VR platform.

For shoppers comparing premium VR headsets, the lower price could make Beyond 2 easier to consider.

The headset remains considerably more expensive than mainstream standalone VR products. However, Bigscreen is targeting a different audience. Beyond 2 is designed primarily for PC VR enthusiasts who already have, or are willing to invest in, the hardware needed for a SteamVR setup.

Bigscreen Beyond 2 Now Includes a Universal-Fit Cushion

The price reduction is not the only change.

Bigscreen says the standard Beyond 2 now ships with its Universal-Fit Cushion as part of the package. The thin silicone light seal is available in soft and firm varieties, giving users more flexibility when adjusting the headset’s fit.

This is a significant change from the headset’s original launch approach.

When Beyond 2 launched, customers needed to submit an iPhone facial scan to receive a custom facial interface. Bigscreen later introduced the Universal-Fit Cushion as an alternative, reducing one of the barriers associated with buying the headset.

The move also makes the product easier to approach for customers who want a simpler purchasing process.

Instead of requiring a personalized facial interface from the beginning, the Universal-Fit Cushion provides a more conventional solution while maintaining the headset’s compact design.

Bigscreen Beyond 2 Remains Extremely Lightweight

One of the biggest advantages of the Bigscreen Beyond 2 is still its weight.

The headset weighs approximately 107 grams, making it dramatically lighter than many conventional VR headsets. That lightweight design is central to Bigscreen’s approach, especially for users who spend long periods inside virtual reality.

The headset uses dual 1-inch micro-OLED displays with a resolution of 2,560 × 2,560 pixels per eye. It supports refresh rates of 90Hz and 75Hz and provides a diagonal field of view of approximately 116 degrees.

Beyond 2 also uses SteamVR tracking, supporting SteamVR 1.0 and 2.0 base stations. Users can also connect compatible SteamVR controllers and trackers.

That means the headset is not designed to function as a completely self-contained VR system.

Buyers need the appropriate PC and SteamVR tracking hardware. For existing PC VR enthusiasts, however, that requirement may be less significant because many already own compatible base stations and controllers.

Bigscreen Beyond 2e Adds Eye Tracking

For users who want more advanced features, Bigscreen continues to offer the Beyond 2e.

The Beyond 2e costs $1,159 following the latest $60 reduction. Its key difference is integrated eye tracking, which is not included on the standard Beyond 2.

Eye tracking can be useful for applications that support features such as gaze-based interaction and potentially more efficient rendering techniques. For enthusiasts who specifically want eye tracking, the 2e therefore remains the premium option in the Beyond 2 family.

The standard Beyond 2, meanwhile, focuses on delivering the core lightweight PC VR experience at a lower price.

Bigscreen Beyond 2 Halo Mount Production Resumes

The other major announcement concerns the long-awaited Halo Mount.

Bigscreen says production has now resumed following a major redesign. The accessory is intended to improve how the headset’s weight is distributed, particularly around the user’s forehead and head.

The development process has taken much longer than originally expected.

Bigscreen previously revealed that early production versions were sent to testers. Feedback from those testers led the company to delay mass production and return to the design process. The redesigned version introduced several changes intended to improve usability and comfort.

Among the redesigned Halo Mount’s features are a new clip-on mechanism, an improved flip-up mechanism, additional USB cable extension and easier vertical adjustment. It also includes an M3 brass-threaded screw hole for third-party accessories and modifications.

The Halo Mount was previously expected to begin shipping much earlier, but production problems continued to push the schedule back.

Bigscreen now appears confident that the latest version is ready for larger-scale production.

Halo Mount Shipments Are Expected in October

According to Bigscreen, the largest volume of Halo Mount shipments is expected to take place in October.

The company says it expects to clear the existing preorder backlog in November. After that, it expects Halo Mount units to be available from inventory and new orders to ship within approximately one to two business days.

That timeline would represent an important improvement for customers who have already been waiting for the accessory.

The Halo Mount is particularly important because the Beyond 2’s extremely low weight changes the way the headset can be worn. While the headset itself is much lighter than many competing devices, distributing that weight comfortably remains important during longer VR sessions.

The redesigned mount is intended to help address that issue.

Bigscreen says the company does not currently anticipate additional engineering changes or delays based on the early results of the latest production run.

Why the Halo Mount Matters for Bigscreen Beyond 2

The Bigscreen Beyond 2 is unusual because its lightweight design is both one of its strongest selling points and one of the reasons accessories matter so much.

At only 107 grams, the headset itself puts considerably less weight on the user’s face than traditional VR headsets. However, a headset’s overall comfort depends on more than its weight.

Balance, pressure distribution, facial contact and head support can all influence how comfortable a device feels during extended sessions.

The Halo Mount is designed to move some of that support away from the face and distribute it across the head.

For enthusiasts who spend hours using PC VR applications, that could make a substantial difference.

The redesigned mount also gives users more adjustment options than the earlier version. Bigscreen’s April announcement highlighted easier vertical adjustment, improved flipping and better cable management among the changes.

Bigscreen Beyond 2 Inventory Is Currently Tight

There is one important catch for buyers interested in the lower price.

Bigscreen says demand for the Beyond 2 family has recently been high, while a delayed freight shipment has contributed to very low inventory. As a result, shipping times can vary significantly depending on the specific order.

Some orders may still ship on the same day they are placed, while others could take as long as two weeks.

Bigscreen expects its regular one-to-two-business-day shipping schedule to resume around September 14.

That means customers considering a purchase should not necessarily assume that every configuration will ship immediately.

Inventory can also vary by color and configuration, making the actual delivery time dependent on the selected model.

Is Bigscreen Beyond 2 More Attractive at $959?

The $60 reduction does not transform the Beyond 2 into a mainstream VR headset. It remains a premium PC VR product.

However, the new price does improve its value proposition.

The headset’s biggest advantages remain its very low weight, micro-OLED displays, wide field of view and compatibility with the SteamVR ecosystem. Those features make it particularly interesting for PC VR enthusiasts who prioritize visual quality and comfort over standalone functionality.

The Universal-Fit Cushion also simplifies the ownership experience compared with the original custom-fit approach.

Meanwhile, the Halo Mount addresses one of the accessory questions that has followed Beyond 2 since its launch.

For someone who already owns SteamVR base stations and controllers, the lower headset price could therefore make the Beyond 2 more appealing.

Newcomers to PC VR still need to account for the additional hardware required to use the headset. SteamVR base stations and compatible controllers are not included with the headset.

Bigscreen Beyond 2 Has a Stronger Value Proposition

The latest changes give the Bigscreen Beyond 2 a somewhat stronger position in the premium PC VR market.

The permanent price cut lowers the entry cost. The Universal-Fit Cushion makes the headset easier to order. And the return of Halo Mount production should eventually give owners a more comprehensive head-support option.

Bigscreen is also maintaining the Beyond 2’s core hardware specifications.

The headset continues to offer 2,560 × 2,560 resolution per eye, a 116-degree diagonal field of view, 90Hz and 75Hz refresh modes, SteamVR tracking and a remarkably low 107-gram weight.

For VR enthusiasts, those specifications remain the primary reason to consider the headset.

The price reduction simply makes that package a little easier to justify.

What Happens Next for Bigscreen Beyond 2?

The next major milestone will be the continued rollout of the Halo Mount.

If Bigscreen’s production schedule remains on track, October should bring the largest wave of shipments, followed by an expected reduction in the preorder backlog during November. The company ultimately wants the accessory to become an in-stock product with normal one-to-two-business-day fulfillment.

At the same time, Bigscreen is working to restore normal headset shipping times following recent inventory pressure.

For potential buyers, the combination of a lower price and improving accessory availability could make September and October an interesting period for the Beyond 2.

The headset is still a niche product. It requires a VR-ready PC, SteamVR tracking infrastructure and compatible controllers, and its price remains well above mainstream standalone VR devices.

But for PC VR users who value an exceptionally lightweight headset, the latest changes strengthen the case for taking a closer look.

The Bigscreen Beyond 2 is now cheaper, easier to order with its Universal-Fit Cushion and moving toward a more complete accessory ecosystem with the redesigned Halo Mount.

After a lengthy development process, Bigscreen is betting that these changes can make one of the lightest high-end PC VR headsets a more compelling option for enthusiasts.
