Four Dead, Ten Wounded in Banquet-Hall Shooting at California Family Gathering
Authorities confirmed that four people were fatally shot and ten others wounded Saturday evening during a family gathering at a banquet hall in Stockton, California. The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. in the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue, where dozens had gathered inside the hall for what appears to have been a celebratory event.
Spokesperson San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office (SJCSO) — named Heather Brent — said victims ranged from children to adults. Early indications suggest the shooting may have been a targeted attack, but as of now, no motive or suspect has been confirmed.
Multiple wounded victims were transported to nearby hospitals, though officials have not released details on their conditions. At the scene, law enforcement secured the area and launched a manhunt for the unknown shooter.
Local leaders voiced shock and sorrow at the violence. Christina Fugazi, mayor of Stockton, said the tragedy — coming just after the Thanksgiving holiday — is “unfathomable” for a community gathering. “Families should be together instead of at the hospital, standing next to their loved one, praying that they survive,” she said.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information — including potential video footage from near the banquet hall — to come forward, underscoring the urgency of identifying and apprehending those responsible
