Jimmy Kimmel Fires Back at Donald Trump’s Call for His Firing: “I’ll Go When You Go”

Jimmy Kimmel is once again the target of Donald Trump’s social media rants, and as usual, the late-night host didn’t back down. On Thursday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel responded to Trump’s latest attack, where the former president criticized the host’s “NO TALENT” and “VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS.” Trump also demanded that ABC “Get the bum off the air!!!”

Taking the jab in stride, Kimmel quickly turned it into a moment of humor. “He keeps saying we have bad ratings,” Kimmel said. “And you should listen to him – because if anyone knows about bad ratings, it’s that guy!”

Kimmel also pointed out the timing of Trump’s post—just after his show had aired on the East Coast. “Thank you for watching the show live, Mr. President,” he quipped, acknowledging Trump’s apparent late-night viewing habits.

This isn’t the first time the two have clashed. Back in September, after Kimmel joked about the MAGA response to the Charlie Kirk assassination, Trump’s FCC chairman, Brendan Carr, called for ABC to pull the show. Kimmel was briefly removed, but after public backlash, he returned to the airwaves.

“You tried to get me fired in September,” Kimmel joked. “It didn’t work. Mr. President – I admire your tenacity.”

Kimmel then suggested an unconventional exit plan: “If you’re watching tonight – which I presume you are – how about this: I’ll go when you go. We’ll be a team. Let’s ride off into the sunset together – like Butch Cassidy and the Suntan Kid.”

The host also took a shot at Trump’s viral “quiet, Piggy” moment, mocking the president’s recent insult aimed at a Bloomberg reporter. “And until then – if I may borrow a phrase from you… quiet, Piggy!” Kimmel said, referencing the viral exchange that had captured headlines.

With Kimmel’s contract set to expire at the end of this season, it’s unclear whether he’ll continue. But if the ongoing jabs from Trump are any indication, this late-night rivalry is far from over.
