10 Xbox Games Arrive on October 16, Led by Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access

Xbox players have a fresh selection of games to explore this week, with October 16 bringing a mixture of major franchise releases, independent adventures and new additions to Microsoft’s PC Game Pass library. Leading the lineup is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which has opened its campaign to eligible players ahead of the game’s full release.

The latest selection spans several genres, including survival horror, classic role-playing, motorcycle racing, creature-filled action and management simulation. While Modern Warfare 4 is likely to attract attention from fans of blockbuster shooters, smaller titles offer alternatives for players looking for different experiences.

According to Pure Xbox’s October 16 release roundup, 10 games are included in the day’s lineup, although availability varies by platform. Some titles are playable on Xbox Series X|S and PC, while others are limited to specific systems.

Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access Headlines the Lineup

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is the biggest release in the October 16 roundup. Its campaign early access gives eligible players the opportunity to experience the single-player story before the full game launches on October 23.

According to the official Call of Duty announcement, players who digitally preordered or prepurchased the game can access the complete campaign. The early access period is available across supported platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.

The campaign features 16 missions set across the Korean Peninsula, Paris, New York and Mumbai. Players take on the role of Private Park Hyun Jun, a young South Korean soldier confronting a major invasion alongside his squad.

Captain John Price also returns in a different position, operating outside the system he once served while pursuing the people responsible for the escalating conflict.

The story combines frontline combat, close-quarters encounters, nighttime operations and large-scale assaults. Players can expect a mixture of military action and narrative-driven missions as the campaign moves between international locations.

Campaign progression also unlocks rewards that can be used in multiplayer and DMZ when those modes become available. DMZ early access is scheduled to begin on October 20, giving players another opportunity to prepare before the full launch.

Tenebris Somnia Brings Retro Survival Horror

Another notable release is Tenebris Somnia, a retro-inspired survival horror game available across Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud gaming.

The game combines two-dimensional gameplay with live-action cinematic sequences produced by an Argentine film crew. Its approach blends traditional pixel-art presentation with filmed scenes, creating a distinctive style for a horror adventure.

Survival horror remains popular among players who enjoy atmospheric environments, unsettling storytelling and tense encounters. Tenebris Somnia offers an alternative to large-scale action games for those seeking a more focused horror experience.

Its combination of retro visuals and live-action footage also gives it a different identity from conventional three-dimensional horror releases.

Tales of Eternia Remastered Returns

Role-playing fans can also check out Tales of Eternia Remastered, which brings the classic adventure to Xbox Series X|S.

The game follows Reid and his companions as they attempt to prevent a catastrophe threatening two realms. Its fantasy setting revolves around elemental spirits known as the Greater Craymels, which play an important role in the adventure.

The remastered release gives Xbox players another way to experience a traditional Japanese role-playing game built around exploration, characters and a larger fantasy narrative.

For players who prefer story-driven adventures over competitive multiplayer, the title adds variety to the October 16 lineup.

Beyond These Stars Joins PC Game Pass

Beyond These Stars is the day’s highlighted Game Pass addition. Available on PC, the city-building simulation places players in the unusual position of developing a settlement on the back of a giant space whale.

Rather than focusing on combat, the game emphasizes resource management, supply chains and the needs of a growing population.

Players must build outposts, establish relationships with alien civilizations and explore the surrounding universe while attempting to create a sustainable community.

The concept combines city management with science-fiction exploration, giving simulation enthusiasts a different option from the week’s action-oriented releases.

The game is available through PC Game Pass, with access also available to eligible Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.

More Xbox Releases Arrive on October 16

The remaining releases expand the selection with several smaller games.

Heavy Metal Death Can offers a survival horror experience built around deep-sea terror and claustrophobic environments. Its premise focuses on creating tension through the dangers of an underwater setting.

Moto X brings back a motorcycle racing game originally developed in 1994. Players compete using motorcycles in the 250cc, 550cc and 750cc categories while navigating tracks filled with obstacles and rival riders.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: Holiday Play Edition provides a seasonal adventure inspired by the animated Christmas classic. Players embark on a quest centered on saving Christmas, making the release a family-oriented alternative to the day’s more intense games.

Sproutex features a small mechanical sphere powered by nature. Equipped with a propeller, the character explores a colorful pixel-art environment where plants and machines coexist.

Supercar Collection Simulator focuses on building and managing a die-cast car shop. Players work to develop a small business into a destination for collectors, emphasizing shop management and collecting.

Finally, Swarm Me offers top-down survival action. Players face large groups of enemies and use movement, items, traps and environmental hazards to overcome increasingly dangerous situations.

Together, these releases provide options for players interested in racing, horror, simulation, family entertainment and arcade-style survival.

A Diverse Week for Xbox Players

The October 16 lineup demonstrates the range of games available across the Xbox ecosystem. Modern Warfare 4 provides the major franchise release, while Tenebris Somnia and Tales of Eternia Remastered appeal to players with different tastes.

Beyond These Stars adds another option for PC Game Pass subscribers, and the remaining titles expand the selection with more specialized experiences.

Platform availability remains an important consideration, as not every game in the roundup supports every Xbox console. Players should check the relevant store listing before purchasing or downloading a title.

With Modern Warfare 4’s full release scheduled for October 23, campaign early access gives eligible players a head start on the story. Meanwhile, the broader October 16 selection ensures that Xbox players have several alternatives to explore while waiting for the next major launch.
