Google Unveils Gemini-Powered Google Home Speaker Set for Spring 2026 Launch

October 1, 2025

Google has offered an early glimpse of its upcoming flagship smart speaker, powered by its new Gemini AI assistant, set to launch in spring 2026. Priced at $99, the next-generation Google Home device promises enhanced AI capabilities, smarter sound processing, and eco-friendly design, marking a significant step forward in Google’s smart home ambitions.

The new Google Home will be available in four sophisticated color options—Porcelain, Hazel, Berry, and Jade—allowing users to match their home decor with ease. Unlike previous immediate launches, Google is intentionally delaying the release to prioritize improving Gemini AI’s performance across its existing smart home ecosystem.

A Thoughtful Rollout Strategy

Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer for Google Home and Nest, explained in a press briefing that the delayed launch is designed to allow current Google Home users to access Gemini AI features on their existing devices through an Early Access program. This approach enables users to provide feedback and report any bugs before the new hardware hits the market.

“We want to ensure it works seamlessly for existing users,” Kattukaran said. “We don’t want to force you to buy a new device unless you want to. Though, we think you may want to, but you don’t need to.”

Enhanced AI and Audio Performance

At the heart of the new speaker is a powerful processor built specifically to run Gemini AI, Google’s latest assistant technology. The AI will support advanced features such as background noise suppression, echo cancellation, and reverb management, allowing the device to better understand voice commands even in noisy environments.

A new light ring at the base of the speaker will visually communicate Gemini’s status, from listening and processing to responding. However, full access to Gemini Live — an interactive version of the assistant — will require a Google Home Premium subscription.

Audio-wise, the device supports 360-degree sound and can be integrated into speaker groups via the Google Home app, enabling synchronized playback across multiple speakers. Responding to long-standing user requests, Google will now allow pairing two Google Home speakers with a Google TV Streamer to create an immersive surround sound experience for home entertainment.

Sustainable Design

Google has wrapped the device in 3D-knitted fabric, which not only provides a premium tactile finish but also reduces fabric waste, aligning with the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.

Global Availability

The Google Home Gemini speaker will launch in spring 2026 across a broad range of markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
