Thai F-16 Jets Strike Deep Inside Cambodian Territory in Latest Escalation

December 24, 2025 — The Cambodia-Thailand border conflict escalated further today as Thai F-16 fighter jets carried out a fresh air raid reaching approximately 60 kilometres inside Cambodian territory, according to the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence.

The Defence Ministry reported that the air operation involved multiple bomb drops over areas well within Cambodian sovereign land. Officials described the strikes as a serious violation of international law and reiterated Phnom Penh’s commitment to defending its territory.

Alongside the aerial assault, heavy shelling was reported in Banteay Meanchey province, including around Poipet city and Sangkat O’Chrov. Local authorities are assessing damage and civilian impact.

This latest action comes amid a broader pattern of cross-border hostilities that reignited earlier this month, with both sides accusing each other of ceasefire violations. Cambodian officials have repeatedly condemned Thai military operations as aggressive incursions, while Bangkok maintains its actions are necessary to counter threats and protect Thai sovereignty.

The renewed violence has drawn regional concern. Foreign ministers from ASEAN member states recently convened in Kuala Lumpur seeking to revive diplomatic efforts and halt the fighting.

As the conflict persists, humanitarian conditions along the border remain precarious, with thousands displaced and ongoing insecurity affecting civilians on both sides
