Family Provides Update on Driver’s Condition
INDIANAPOLIS — The family of the 69‑year‑old grease truck driver, identified only by his initials P.T., have released a brief statement saying he is “OK” following a brutal late‑night altercation with former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez.
They added that legal counsel is involved and asked for patience before making further comments.
How the Incident Unfolded
The confrontation occurred shortly after midnight in an alley behind a hotel, as P.T. was collecting used cooking oil.
According to court documents, Sanchez—reportedly intoxicated—approached the driver and spoke with slurred speech. P.T., who was not wearing his hearing aids due to the loud noise of his own work truck, leaned in to try to hear him better.
What followed was a sudden escalation: Sanchez allegedly slammed P.T. against a wall and threw him to the ground.
Fearing for his safety, P.T. is said to have used pepper spray and then stabbed Sanchez multiple times in defense.

Driver’s Injuries
P.T. sustained serious facial wounds, including a deep cut through his cheek reaching his tongue. He was seen wearing a neck brace in hospital photos.
Sanchez’s Condition & Arrest
